I know some of you have been buried in snow all winter & you pray for Spring already. I do sympathize, I really do, but we are usually lacking in snow & when it comes, even when a little bit falls, it is always cause for excitement. We live in a weird place in our county. When the weatherman puts up his map, there is always a snow/rain line going straight through our area. It is then I wish I had listened to my husbands pleas to move a little North, get out in the country…..WE WOULD BE WELL WITHIN THE SNOW LINE!
Last winter, we had so little snow, I forgot to buy snow gear. Of course we got several inches in March. The snow gear was long gone in place of bathing suits & summer clothing. My poor children were relegated to playing in the snow in rain boots & jeans. I vowed this year would be different but when Christmas came & went & I still had not purchased proper snowsuits, my mom went online & found new gear for all 4 kids on the cheap. Alas, all we had to do was wait….
Snow came Friday overnight. My baby was the first one up & she spent the next 2 hours whining about how she wanted to go outside & play. Eventually we all got up & fed & I bundled her up; snowpants, coat, hat, gloves (which for a 3 year old take about 17 minutes to get on), double socks & boots.
2 hours of begging, 24 minutes to get dressed. Approximate time outside? 14 minutes.

The big kids on the other hnd will never come in no matter how numb & stingy their hands become. No matter how cold & pink & snotty their cheecks are. No! They shall never admit defeat! Even when they have used the wood pile to climb on top of the playhouse roof & have gotten stuck there!

There is after all, sledding to be done. In fact, there is a hill right in our front yard. The gang waits agitated at the top…chomping at the bit….dying to conquer the best.

Ok. In truth it is more of a gentle slope than a hill. You can slide a good 3-4 feet before sliding off the curb & into the snow covered street Of course one has to stand guard & yell CAR! whenever once approaches, but the mother of 4 in me doesn’t worry so much anymore. I know they have the system down.
Fun right?

Heck. Even just sitting around looking fetching in your new pink snowsuit can make a girls day.
