Playing catch up tonight while my poor sick hubby tries to breathe & sleep & snore all at the same time…
I am off til Tues & don’t want to leave anyone from last week out of the blog fun.
When R & S showed up in matching dresses, I fell for them hook line & sinker! In days gone by I used to dress my two oldest girls in matching outfits all the time. They once spent a whole week in Disney in matching outfits for the entire time. I lied to myself & others by saying that putting them in matching dresses made them easier to keep track of. Truth be told, I come from a long line of mothers who match & it is just the way of my people. I love it & of course, love others who love it too! HA!
Completely adorable I think.
I also got to see a favorite client last week. I got lost when I went to her house last year (I actually knocked on the wrong door. Ugh) & she got lost coming to see me this time. Maybe next time we’ll meet in the middle…
Baby C is much bigger & more mobile than last time I saw him & his big sister A is more gorgeous than ever! (Is that possible?)
A great week from beginning to end!

I rode up to Qtown today for a session with a new client. I had spoken on the phone at length with the mommy. We talked about a date mix up, raising children, homeschooling, cloth diapers, giving birth & oh about a million other things. I like her from the get go.
On the actual date that we were to meet (not the mixed up one), it poured rain & J. said to me, I think this shoot is jinxed. We rescheduled for today & as I driving down their road, I saw this great house round the corner. A big old rambling house with flowers & pretty trees & a giant barn. There were things in the yard that indicated children were living there & I thought to myself, please please let this be the house! I paused to see the address & sure enough, it was! Hooray!
Sometimes things just click & there is an ease about the day that lets you know things are going to go your way. What a family! Two lovely little boys, some sheep, some chickens, a cat wandering the yard. Mom was at ease with her oldest who was digging in dirt, splashing in water, muddying his face…She & her sweet hubby took it all in stride. No one yelled for them to stay clean. No one told him to knock it off. They wiped a face, they changed a shirt. I waited while we chased a chicken for S. to hold….It was all really beautiful & later, when J. wondered if you can ever be a perfect mom, I assured her she already was one & I really really want her to know now (cause I think she is looking for some pictures!) that she is only 4 years & some months into this mothering thing & she has got it down like an old pro!
It’s late like usual. One day I will figure out how to do my life & go to bed before 2AM…
In the meantime, I wanted to share some more images from Saturdays mini sessions. I got to see some familiar faces along with some new ones~ya can’t beat that!
Here in Doylestown, spring has been WEIRD. One day lovely & sunny & then 5 days following of chilly temps & rain. Ugh.
Saturday I got lucky~a lovely breeze, some warm sun & lots of sweet littles to hang out with.
If you are not up yet, you will be. Check back:)

You just never know what the day will bring~who you will meet~how things will go.
Today was a good day mostly. Some crazy rehearsal schedules for my family & some changes in plans but we roll with it as well as we can.
I got to shoot some mini sessions today in town & that was the very best part of my day. I am working on uploading images, peeking at them, seeing the day through new & different eyes after the fact. I proofed one session & a few images from another which I thought I would post here.
The C family was something special. Mostly because they were unexpected if that makes any sense. Unique & colorful & so full of life that you just feel good hanging around them. Their daughter L seemed quiet & shy; she came prepared in a pink pettiskirt & some cool sneaks so I knew this was a girl with spark! Quiet, yes, but put her in front of a camera & she didn’t have to say a word.
See, ya just never know…
And my favorite for this minute. I asked for a little attitude. Ya think?
Got to photograph the lovely A. girls today.
Miss C. is 3 .5 & a firecracker which I love. I never understood these little creatures before I had one of my own. Talkative & ornery & always on the move. Always. You know my Grace pushes all my buttons (as my friend tells me, “she installed them!”) so I know just how to play the game. C. was acting up a little for her Mom & Dad. Making sure they knew she was gonna sit still when she felt like it. Smile when she felt like it. You know the drill….
I asked then if they might leave the room for awhile. I knew just what would happen & here it is in one frame. Total & complete cooperation.
And her wee sister M. So sunny & along for the ride. You have to be when you are second.
She was the ultimate escape artist until we shut the bedroom door & she resigned herself to the inevitable.
It’s back to work in full swing here as the warmer days increase & everyone is feeling happy & like smiling for my camera.
Sunshine is food for the soul I think. The kids seems more energized, the grown ups are friendlier & everyone is thinking ahead to gardens, vacations & the dreaded bathing suit season..(when WILL those 1920’s bathing suits ever come back into style?)
One great happiness in our home is sweet Baby A. who is the beautiful child of our beautiful babysitter. We got to watch her grow on the inside & now she blesses us with her lovely self on the outside. My children ADORE her already at 8 weeks old & whenever she is here our home is better for it. I love that C. gets to bring her baby with her to work & that she can help me with my children without having leave her own. Baby A has quickly taken her place in our hearts & I get some baby love time without all the hard work. Sometimes C will make lunch for my kids or hang out with them while I streal away to proof pics while baby girl sleeps in my lap. Ahhhhhhh, the bliss of a yummy baby smell…
Can you see what I mean? My daughter & hers. Does that not make you smile?
One other quick note~~
THREE spots left for mini sessions on May 17th. Please call Monkey Business if you want to get one while they’re hot! 215.340.1890
